People looking to downsize from their large homes and college students moving back home due to the pandemic are driving growth in self-storage facilities in the Dayton region.
Their increasing popularity has prompted at least one area city — Centerville — to place a one-year ban on new units being built.
Self-storage has been a strong-performing investment for business owners for the last 20 to 25 years, but the pandemic has added to the growth, said Thomas Gustafson, national director of Self Storage Group for Colliers International in Cleveland.
